In the deep mists of time the surface and the interior of planet Tulpha-9 was, to all intents and purposes, inhospitable.

Two of the major planets encircling the giant star Ortorius-A and and its little sister Ortorius-B that had ever been inhabited came to inglorious ends.  Both civilisations "burned up" through over population and the mishandling of resources.  One disappeared forever into the commodious cosmic graveyard.

A small group of nefarious Storrenaks made their getaway from Storano and secretly landed on Tulpha-9.  They had the technology and the will to survive.  Eventually they fabricated an atmosphere generator sufficiently powerful to enable them to leave their spaceships and transfer to the strange environment of their new home.
